New Music: "Open Road (I Love Her)"

Chris Brown has a new record that has hit the internet this week entited "Open Road (I Miss Her)". I'm not sure on any information on this song. Appearently this song is yet another leaked track and may possibly be on his next album Fortune. However I leanred that he may do this song at this years VMA's, which I highly doubt. I don't know nothing, but all I know is this track is hot.

New Videos: "Body 2 Body"/ "Quickie"/ "Far Away"

Yesterday Ace Hood's new video for his third single "Body 2 Body" off of his third studio album Blood, Sweat, & Tears was released. When I first heard this song on the radio I already knew it would be another hit like his first two singles "Hustle Hard" and "Go N Get It". What made me love this song was Chris Brown's vocals on the chorus and bridge, and the beat itself. It kind of reminded me of Ace Hood's single "Ride or Die" featuring Trey Songz off of his sophomore album Ruthless. I began to like the song even more when the video was released yesterday because it's just something about Chris Brown that just makes you melt.

The next video comes from Miguel, his third single "Quickie" has become everyone's favorite. So the video soon became highly demanded. This single is from Miguels debut album All I Want Is You, which was released late last year.

The final video comes from Tyga, who is currently headling the Closer to My Dreams Tour. He just released another mixtape, Well Done 2. At the same time he is gearing up for his second studio album Careless World. "Far Away" featuring Chris Richardson is the first single off of that album and I expressed my like for the song in a new music post a few months ago. Now the video is finally here. The concept of the video is similar to the concept of his video for "Reminded" featuring Adele off of his mixtape Black Thoughts Vol.2. It makes me wonder who was Tyga's real life love that he lost some time ago.

Throwback Thursday: Ciara- "Like A Boy"

This weeks throwback song is "Like A Boy" from Ciara's sophomore album Ciara: The Evolution, which was released in December 2006. The video for this song was released in early 2007. I believe that this has to be one of Ciara's best videos because the dancing was just plain crazy. When I first seen the video I was literally left in awe. Ciara did an excellent job at displaying the result of a woman taking on a man's role. Now a days a lot of females do act like boys, causing a lot of males to be very sensative. I've witnessed it myself first hand. Lols! Ciara recently was able to get out of her deal with LaFace Records, and she is now signed to Epic Records.

Throwback Tuesday: Kelly Rowland- "Like This"

I don't know how this was possible, but I forgot to do a Throwback Thursday last week. Thankfully I have the perfect song to make up for it, not to mention it's Tuesday so it kind of goes hand in hand with the word throwback like Thursday does (because they all start with the letter "T" lols)

The throwback song for today is "Like This" off of Kelly Rowland's second studio album Ms. Kelly. The album was released back in 2007, with "Like This" as the leading single. It is personally my favorite Kelly Rowland song, and also one of her first big hits as a solo artist. The song was produced by popular producer Polow da Don, and the song features female rapper Eve. I say this song is the perfect song for the throwback of the day because today her third studio album Here I Am is now in stores. The album features her #1 single "Motivation" featuring Lil Wayne, and her second single "Lay It On Me" featuring Big Sean. Everyone make sure you go pick up a copy and support Kelly Rowland.

I thought I would also post a video of Kelly Rowland singing "Bad Habit" off of the Destiny Fulfilled album, this song is my favorite off of the entire album

R.I.P Amy Winehouse

I really hate when I have to do another R.I.P post, because I know once again the music world has suffered yet another lost of a great musician. This post in particular I kind of feel guilty for doing because it seems as though people are no longer important or worth mentioning until their actually dead. That is something that I  really hate about this world. Many know Amy Winehouse as the British singer with the beehive hair do, soulful melo voice, that sung about not attending rehab. However her music was more than that, those who knew more than one song from her knows that she expressed all of her trials and tribulations through her music. Like her song "Back to Black" for example. Although I never really mentioned Amy Winehouse on the regular I am still a fan. When someone has such an amazing voice, and actually does something great with it I am forever a fan. It's no secret that she was constantly in the media more for alcohol and drug abuse, opposed to her contribution to the music world. I mean she won five grammy's for her album Back to Black, and set the record for taking home the most grammy's by a female artist in one night back in 2007. I personally would have killed to get in the position she was in, sadly her life had to end only after 27 years. The cause of her death is currently still unknown, and some people are suspecting it to be a drug overdose. I don't know what it is, but my heart still goes out to her family because in the end a life was still lost. Regardless of all the negative I believe that respects should be paid and wishes of her finally resting in peace should be made. With that being said I wish that she is now resting in peace, and I know she for sure will not be forgotten.

K'La

It's been a minute since I've done a new artist post, but when ever I do one it's always about an artist that is a great addition to the music industry. This time I am here to talk about new Def Jam artist K'La. I first heard of K'La when her video for her hit single "All Your Love" was a new joint on 106 & Park. I automatically fell in love with the song because number one it samples Bob Marley and the Wailers song "Turn the Lights Down". Also because I really found her voice to be very melo and calming. However, when I heard her rap that's when I was sold. It turns out that K'La has always wanted a musical career, but not as a singer. She always had dreams of being a rapper, but when her manager told her she had a great voice she decided to take on both rapping and singing. Two years ago she  moved to Atlanta from Gary, Indiana to persue her music career. While in Atlanta she met the CEO of Music Line, after performing for him she was signed to the label last summer. The single mother of two currently has her mixtape The Coldest Winter Ever, out which features "All Your Love". After watching and reading a few interviews with K'La I learned that all she is trying to do is speak the truth through her music, and she is going to tell her audience the truth without candy coating anything.

Throwback Thursday: Jay-Z "Song Cry"

This weeks throwback song is "Song Cry" by Jay-Z. I believe that he has to be the best rappers in the game still to this day. This song is off of his 2001 album The Blueprint. I don't know how or why, but this has always been my favorite song by Jay-Z. The sample of Bobby Glenn's "Sounds Like a Love Song" just adds the cool, melo, laid back feel to the song. As a little girl both Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G were my favorite rappers because those were my dads favorite rappers, and it was their songs that I mostly heard in the car. I believe that Jay-Z is not only the best rapper in the game, but one of the smartest rappers. He has been able to become one of the biggest moguls in the hip hop industry. Just to think him and my dad grew up together in Marcy. This August he will be releasing a joint album with Kanye West entitled Watch the The Throne. This is just a WARNING  to everyone, when this album drops the streets are gonna go crazy because I can asure that it would be that good.

New Music: Monica ft. Rick Ross & Lil Kim- "Anything (To Find You)"

It's been a minuate since I have mentioned Monica. The last time I mentioned her I spoke on her relationship with then boyfriend Shannon Brown. Fast forward to a few months later and now her and Shannon Brown are married. In fact the two have been married for the past six months and they are currently planning another wedding that both of their families can enjoy together, since they didn't part take in the first one. Not only that but Monica has a new album that is expected to be released on October 18th. Her new album is entitled New Life, and the first single off of her album is "Anything (To Find You)" which features both Rick Ross and Lil Kim. This track is also produced by Missy Elliot. Just looking at everything that has changed since Monica's release of her last studio album Still Standing, I can tell this new album will have a lot more uptempo and more uplifting songs. It may seem like a short amount of time, but Monica was able to find the love of her life and the two have been working to form their new profound family. As a fan of Moncia I must say that I am really happy for her and cannot wait for the new album. I also hope there's a new season of her reality show Still Standing on BET.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SONG?

NEW VIDEOS: "Snapback Back"/ "Best Thing I Never Had"

I just love when new videos are released. Today I have a new video from YMCMB's Tyga and a new video from Beyonce.

Tyga has a new single out featuring Chris Brown entitled " Snapback Back" off of his upcoming mixtape Well Done 2. Tyga is also gearing up to release his second studio album Careless World. Today is the first day of the Closer to My Dreams Tour, which is also being headlined by Tyga himself. From the looks of it Tyga is going to have a great end of the year and a good start for 2012 as well.

The next new video comes from Beyonce, she just released the video to her single "Best I Never Had" off of her new album 4. Her album reached number one after her first week sales. Many people doubted her because of her album being leaked three weeks ahead, but she proved them wrong. I must say that I really do ♥ this video. This video is a perfect example of what I hope for in the near future.

Throwback Thursday: Lloyd ft. Lil Wayne- "You"

This weeks throwback song is "You" by Lloyd featuring Lil Wayne. This song is off of his sophomore album Street Love, which was released back in 2007. This week Lloyd released his fourth studio album King of Hearts. For those who may not know he is now signed with Interscope Records and under Polo Da Don's label Zone 4. The album features his hit songs "Lay It Down" and "Cupid".

It's Whatever One Year Later

Right about now I am very proud to sit behind my computer and announce this is the first anniversary of It's Whatever. One year ago on this day I said to myself that I wanted to start a blog. I had seen so many other people with blogs and I decided I wanted to start my own. In my first post entiltled Blog #101 I said I had absolutely no idea what I wanted my blog to be about. Just coming up with concepts in my head began to give me a headache. However it was shortly after I noticed that all of my posts were connected to music in some way shape or form. So although my blog was entitled It's Whatever, it soon became about music and not just whatever random stuff I felt like talking about. It all made since to me after awhile. Since I aspire to be within the music industry one day I thought that it was only right that I continued with the pattern of music. After all music is what I love, and it's something that comes second in my life. This past year I had people say to me "I've never heard of this artist or this group until I read about them on your blog". "I first heard this song on your blog". I even heard some harsh words from the people I call my friends. I would hear things like "I don't have time to read your blog". "I really don't care what you have to say, I know it's irrelevent anyways". All I have to say to those people is fuck you. With or without your support I continued to do this blog. I did it for myself and for my love of music. I even ended my blog, but my heart wouldn't let me stay away for longer than a month. I just learned to balance both my music and keeping up with the blog. I must say I've been doing a pretty damn good job. *pats self on the back*. Doing this blog has helped me realize my love for both writing and reporting entertainment (mainly music) news. Thats why next year when I enter college I'll be majoring in both vocal music performance and broadcast journalism, media journalism or mass communications (I'm not quite sure yet). To sum up this long story, I'm proud of myself for sticking to this blog and letting my love for music be known to everyone. Even if it was only a few dedicated readers. This is only one year, and I'm looking forward to many more to come.
