Miguel

I don't know why but it has literally taken me a month to do this post. Why? I have no clue as to why, but better late than never I guess. Miguel is one of the new artist on the R&B scene. Like many new artist Miguel has written for established artist on their albums before beginning a musical career from behind the sences. He has written on Usher's last two albums Here I Stand and Raymond v. Raymond. He is most famous for his song "All I Want Is You" off of his debut album All I Want Is You, which was released on November 30, 2010 on Jive Records. He was nominated at this years Grammy's, but as a songwriter. Miguel was signed to Jive Records in 2007 after his manager sent Mark Pitts his single "Sure Thing". Miguel described the track as "highly personal...a record that no one was ever supposed to hear". Even though he didn't want anyone to hear it, the song became a big hit. As it was the second single off of his debut album. Lately I've been seeing people mention Miguel left and right, saying that his album is one of the best R&B albums in years. I haven't heard the entire album, but after hearing all the good things I'm going to have to purchase my own copy.

Beyonce Mania

I'm going to keep this post real plain and simple. Beyonce is taking over and she is gearing up for the release of her new studio album 4. She has already reached success with her leading single "Run The World (Girls)" and she released her second single this week entitled "1+1". Her performance at the Billboard Music Awards AMAZING, her performance at the American Idol finale AMAZING.

Favorite Looks of the Week

I know people are sick of me talking about Keri Hilson, but I don't care. Recently Auntie Keri (my name for her) hasn't had too many great looks, so when I seen her on the white carpet at last Sunday's Billboard Music Awards I knew I had to post this and make her number one. The yellow & turquoise blended together so well, and her makeup goes well too.

Beyonce has been the main topic for the past week. Just in case you don't know Beyonce will be taking over the entire summer, and I know some grammy nominations will be involved for the 2012 Grammy's. Last week Sunday she took over the Billboard Music Awards. She did this killer performance of her song "Run The World (Girls)" that was so inspirational to me. She also recieved the Billboard Millenium Award. It must feel really great to be Beyonce.

Another great look from this week was Melanie Fiona's look on the carpet at the Shine on Sierra Leone 5th Annual Fundraiser. It's something about her look that I like, but I can't put my finger on it. I believe she does laid back looks so well, because this outfit is not dressy. However it's not to dressed down, whatever is going on I like it.

This week was the premiere for the new movie X Men: First Class, and one of the stars of the movie Zoe Kravitz looked nice on the carpet. She also showed off a new hair color, which looks great on her. Zoe is one of those actresses that makes a simple look, look beautiful and doesn't make it seem simple.

Other favorites outside of events:

Anyone who knows me knows I have the biggest crush on Tyga. Recently he was out in Japan & he twitpic'ed this picture and I had to grab it because he just looks great to. Good thing he had this Supreme hat on though, because I'm not a big fan of his new honey brown hair color. I still ♥ him though.

I haven't posted anything about Monica & Shannon Brown in awhile, but the last post I did do on them just happens to be in the top five here on It's Whatever. Since then the two have gotten married & began their lives together as husband & wife. Earlier this week Monica tweeted that her and Shannon just made six months of being married. I know the two are currently planning a big official wedding that includes both of their families and friends. I just ♥ this two together.

Devin Thomas is a player for the NY Giants and I just needed to post this picture because he looks AMAZING. This is a picture from his new fitness calendar that comes out this fall. For those who watch Fantasia's reality show on VH1 Fantasia For Real, knows that Devin was the leading guy in her "Bittersweet" music video. Also seen on the show was behind the scenes of the video and he asked her out but she turned him down. I really wish she hadn't because. . .just look at him & that should be enough said.

Throwback Thursday: Tiffany Evans ft. Ciara- "Promise Ring"

This weeks Throwback Thursday is "Promise Ring" from singer Tiffany Evans. This was the leading single off of her debut album Tiffany Evans released in 2008. Tiffany Evans is a really talented singer, she was noticed by many people in Tyler Perry's movie Madea's Family Reunion. She was being managed by Matthew Knowles, but parted ways with him months ago. Her last single was "I'll Be There" off of her sophomore album Perfect Imperfection, which currently has no released date. I cannot wait to hear more from her because this girl can SANG her ass off.

Cali Swag District: "I Really Live It" (Bring It Back Freestyle)

Everyone that knows how to dougie has learned it from Californa group Cali Swag District. Today the group released a video for their song "I Really Live It" over Travis Porter's "Bring It Back" beat. The group is currently going through hard times because earlier this week their member/brother M-Bone (far right) was shot and killed. No one currently knows anything, but I pray that some answers are found soon because the violence is really GETTING OUT OF HAND. Everyone is so concerned with the world ending and dying, but they don't even have to worry about that because everyone is killing each other and ending each other's world. It really makes my stomach turn when I hear of yet another death due to a senseless act of violence. I hope justice is served. Cali Swag District is nominated for Best Group at this years BET Awards so good luck to them, and their debut album is set to be released later on this year.

Chris Brown: "I Should of Kissed You" Official Music Video

Chris Brown is at it again, today he released his 5th video from his new album F.A.M.E. His single "I Should of Kissed You" has to be my third favorite song off of the album. What I like about this video is, this is a video Chris did on his own. Like his video for "Beautiful People" he used his own personal footage to create the video, opposed to spending thousands of dollars on one video. Those type of actions show artist creativity, which is really important when being involved within the industry. With no creative thought there is no career, and many within the industry may have that creative mind. However they do not have the control to express their creativity publicly. So I commend Chris Brown for taking the control that he deserves and giving his audience what they want. I must say #TEAMBREEZY has to be one of the luckiest teams out right now. P.S. Chris Brown announced today on his twitter that he was on the set of his video for "Next to You" featuring Justin Bieber, so be on the lookout for that video as well.

Throwback Thursday: Kelly Clarkson: "Breakaway"

Anyone who is an American Idol fan may enjoy this weeks throwback. I'm no longer a fan of the show because the past couple of years the show has lost value. I only watch for the auditions, but this is a nice song to go down memory lane with. This weeks song comes from the first ever American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson with "Breakaway". This is the first song she released after winning American Idol. "Breakaway" was the leading single for the Disney movie Princess Diaries 2, which was a really great movie. I recommend all the princesses around the world to go see both the first and second Princess Diaries. I wonder where Kelly Clarkson is at now, she is one of the few talented American Idol winners. Kelly Clarkson if your reading this can you please let us know where your at, and when your coming back?

NEW MUSIC: "Fools With You"/ "The Other Chick"/ "Far Away"

The first song comes from Chris Brown, his new song is entitled "Fools With You". This song is rumored to be on Chris Brown's upcoming album Fortune, which is still in the works. After reaching number one with his current album F.A.M.E Chris is ready to give his fans even more music. This track is another one of his slow R&B tracks that makes you want to listen over and over again. I mean I just finished listening to his song "Up to You" off of his F.A.M.E album about six times back to back.

The next new song comes from JoJo, it's entitled "The Other Chick". It's off of her upcoming third album Jumping Trains, which she wishes to drop this summer. I don't think it will be released this summer because there is not enough promo between now and July and August. I will however predict that JoJo will begin to create a buzz around the fall or around the holidays. She is however off to a great start with this song being the first off the album. This song is dedicated to all the sidelines that don't know they are sidelines. #STAYSTRONG! JoJo was able to get a new deal with Interscope Records, who is distributing her music in association with Background Music(record label started by Aaliyah's uncle). She already shot the video to this song, so I can't wait to see it.

The last song comes from Young Money's Tyga♥. After a long wait he finally seems to be ready to release his sophomore album Careless World, he prepared his audience with the kind of music to expect on the album with his various mixtapes such as Well Done and Black Thoughts Vol.2. So far everyone has been loving his music so I don't see why they wouldn't like his first single "Far Away". I'm personally excited for the release of the album not because I have the biggest crush on Tyga♥, but because he is one of the few rappers from this generation that actually has something to say.

Throwback Friday: Jennifer Lopez ft. LL Cool J- "All I Have"

This is unusual to have a "Throwback Friday", but yesterday Blogger was experiencing some technical difficulties so there was no Throwback Thursday. So today I bring you Throwback Friday, and hopefully there is only one Throwback Friday. This weeks throwback song comes from Jennifer Lopez, and it's "All I Have" featuring LL Cool J. This song is off of her album This is Me...Then, which was released back in 2002. This was actually my favorite song before Ne-Yo's "When Your Mad" came along. This song is from the time when real good R&B music was being released. There is still good music being released, but it's not as consistant like it was back in 2002. Jennifer Lopez is currently all over the place, but in a good way. She is one of the three judges on American Idol, she recently released her new studio album Love? on May 3rd with the single "I'm In To You" featuring Lil Wayne. She is also starring in many commercials and on various magazine covers.

2011 Met Costume Institute Gala Benefit Favorite Looks

This past week many celebrities swormed New York City for the annual Met Costume Institute Gala Benefit, which honored late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. It took me all week to go over all of the looks from the red carpet, and I was able to come up with my favorite looks.

My number one pick has to go to Ciara. Everyone already knows that Ciara has a very fit body so she can wear just about anything. She did an amazing job at picking this dress. I like the way the dress begins with a blue/gray color at the sweetheart neck line and then fades off into a white. I love that she wore her hair down, opposed to wearing it up like many decided to do. The look all together is just P-E-R-F-E-C-T to me. F.Y.I Ciara confirmed this week that her and New York Knick Amar'e Stoudemire are dating, and they actually look cute together.

My next favorite look goes to Rihanna, I like that she kept her hair simple. Instead of making it something really drastic. Her dress in particualr was a piece of art to me. It's like a tight fitting off the shoulder lace dress. Then again it's more like a off the right side of her body dress, because the right side is more like a nude piece connected to the dress. Whatever it is I like it.

Next favorite look goes to Mary J Blidge. What I like about her dress is the detail at the top. The gold detail actually complements her hair color and her skin tone. Usually the tattos would be an issue, buh the whole dress takes away from that. Not to mention she picked a great hairstyle to go with the dress.

Kerry Washington is my next favorite look. I think the light turquoise color is really pretty and becuase she is really small the cut outs on the side just add more to the look in total. The top of the dress down to her thighs is fitted and then the bottom of the dress just flows out giving a elegant look.

The next favorite look goes to Solange, she switched her hair up from it's natrual look to a relaxed curly look. I love the print of her dress, what makes me like her look is she stuck to her style and was able to find a perfect look for the event.

My last favorite look goes to Beyonce. I like this mermaid dress on her because it's able to show her shape, and it takes a turn when the dress reaches her neck. Not many people can wear mermaid dresses serveal times and look great everytime. This dress was so tight that she needed help walking up the stairs. If there is anything I would change is her hairstyle. At first I preferred for it to be down, but then I realized that it would of been too much because her dress reaches her neck. So maybe if she had a hairstyle like Mary J Blige it probably would of made her look even better.

Throwback Thursday: Chris Brown- "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)"

This weeks Throwback Thursday song is Chris Brown's "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" off of his self titled debut album Chris Brown. It's only right that this song is picked for this week since today is Chris Brown's 22nd birthday. It seemed like just yesterday he was 16 years old, and now he is 22. So far in his career he has been at an all time high, than he reached an all time low back in 2008. He is now back where he belongs at the top of his game. With a number one album he is better than ever. This song was actually this reason I brought his first album, which can be considered an early classic to my generation.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS BROWN :)

NEW MUSIC: Diggy Simmons ft. Bruno Mars "Click Clack Away"

This segment of New Music is about up and coming hot teen rapper Diggy Simmons. He is the son of Joseph Simmons also known as Rev Run of Run DMC. Diggy was signed to Atlantic Records last year on his 15th birthday, and I must say dude is real. With all the foolish rapping going on today, he is actually considered a real rapper. Since beginning his rap career Diggy has released two mixtapes The First Flight and Airborne. He is currently working on his debut album, which has no title or release date as of yet. His song "Click Clack Away" featuring singer/songwriter Bruno Mars was released the other day. With a song like this music may just be back on it's way to being real. It's obvious Diggy inherited the rapping gene out of his dads five kids.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS SONG?

Chris Brown: "She Ain't You" Official Music Video

I've been personally excited for the release of this video. "She Ain't You" has to be the best song off of the entire F.A.M.E album in my opinion, I find myself singing the song constantly. Chris Brown did a wonderful job paying tribute to Michael Jackson. I think had he been here he would be proud. I know for sure that the video will be within the top 5 videos on 106 & Park by next week.
