Aretha Franklin Announces New Album & Performs on David Letterman

The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin recently announced she will be releasing a new album entitled Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics. On the new album, the legendary singer covers the classic diva hits sung by other artists such as Barbra Streisand and Gladys Knight. The first single off of the project releasing on October 21st is her rendition of Adale's hit single "Rolling In The Deep". This past Monday she visited David Letterman on the Late Show and sung the song, backed with five background singers. Interestingly, one of her singers was another legend, Cissy Houston. Nonetheless, Aretha reminded us all why she's still the Queen of Soul.

New Music: Teyana Taylor "Dreams of F*ckin A R&B Bitch"

After the success of her first single "Maybe" featuring Yo Gotti and Pusha T, Teyana Taylor is back with a new track. "Dreams of F*ckin A R&B Bitch" is in response to Tory Lanez single "Teyana" where he professes his love for the singer. Unfortunately, Teyana is currently in a relationship with Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks. Nonetheless, it is definitely a hot spin to the track. Not to mention Teyana's debut album VII releases on November 4th.

New Music: Kendrick Lamar "i"/ Keyshia Cole "Remember (Part 2)"

The week isn't even over yet, but there has been nothing but great new music from left to right. This week Kendrick Lamar has FINALLY released new music. After the success of his debut album Good Kid M.A.D.D. City everyone has been looking to see what he would do next for his sophomore album. After some time he has broken his silence, and released his new single "i". The single clearly samples the Isley Brothers classic hit "Who's That Lady", but other than that the West Coast rapper is offering self confidence to his listeners. With lines such as, "everybody lack confidence, how many times my potential was anonymous" and "I love myself" repeatedly throughout the chorus, I can see this turning out to be yet another hit for him.

August Alsina Visits Power 105.1's Breakfast Club

Last night in shocking news it was reported the singer August Alsina collapsed off of the stage while he was performing here in NYC at Irving Plaza (the show I wanted to go to). It was most likely due to exhaustion and dehydration because August works extremely hard. However, before last nights show he stopped by The Breakfast Club over at Power 105.1. During the interview he talks about other artist he can look to for advice, the recent situation with a club promoter, dealing with his new profound success and way much more.

Check out the interview below:

New Music: K. Michelle "Love 'Em All"

One of my favorites K. Michelle is FINALLY back with new music. A little over a year since she released her debut album Rebellious Soul, she offers new music from her upcoming album #AWBAH. I have yet to figure out what the abbreviation stands for, and I've spent a good chunk of my summer trying to figure it out, but yet no luck. Nonetheless, I am sure the album's title will soon be revealed. However, the first track off of the project is "Love 'Em All" and it is definitely a new sound for the singer. In the past K. Michelle has mentioned a new direction she is headed in for this new project, so we can only wait to see where she takes things.

New Music Video: August Alsina ft. Nicki Minaj "No Love (Remix)"

Today the official music video for August Alsina's latest single "No Love" featuring Nicki Minaj was released. In fact, this version is the remix, as Nicki offers a female perspective on the track. The original single appears on August's debut album Testimony, which released back in April. I must admit that I'm pretty much a big August Alsina fan and I love just about every song on the album, and "No Love" is definitely one of the songs on my "favorites playlist".

Check out the music video below:

Sidenote: Tonight August Alsina is here in NYC at Irving Plaza for his Testimony Live Tour, and right now I am not there because of educational purposes. However, I do plan on catching him on Usher's UR Experience

New Music Video: Traci Braxton "Last Call"/ Jhene Aiko "The Pressure"

Now that Tamar Braxton has reached a successful music career, the next sister on the list to get things rolling is Traci. The Braxton Family Values star revealed this past summer that she signed a deal with eOne Music Group and that her album Crash & Burn will be out this fall. The first single from her solo project, "Last Call" was released a few months back and the official music video is now here. I know that Traci definitely has the voice, therefore the auto tune was so uncalled for. Nonetheless, the track is still great, and Traci looks amazing in the video.

RHOA's Porsha Williams Performs "Flatline" at Tom Joyner's Family Reunion

This past weekend Tom Joyner's annual Family Reunion went down in Orlando, Florida. With many performances lined up, Porsha Williams happened to be among the many "artist" set to perform. Other performers that touched the stage throughout the weekend included Yolanda Adams, BabyfaceSyleena Johnson and more. Reality star Porsha Williams performed her single"Flatline", which was released earlier this year following the season finale of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Although she looked great during her performance, I need you guys to determine whether or not she did a great job performance wise.

2014 Made In America Concert Series

This past weekend the Made In America concert series made it's return to Philadelphia for the third year in a row, and it's debut in the Los Angeles area. There were tons of performers who hit the stage for the two day concert series, and there were also plenty of your favorite celebs that were spotted taking in the experience. Some of the performers for this years lineup included Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, J Cole, Iggy Azalea, YG, Rita Ora and many many more artists. The head honcho of the concert series, Jay- Z, was spotted cozied up next to his wife Beyonce in LA. Now that Made In America has come and gone, I guess it's pretty safe to say summer is officially coming to an end.
