Dawn Richard- "Me Myself & Y"

This song is not really new, it came out earlier this year. Around that time I had ended It's Whatever, and it was always hard for me to hear new music and not be able to share it. I'm a few months late, but I'm still going to share because I really do like this song. This song is entitled "Me Myself & Y" from Dawn Richard's mixtape #ATELLTALEHEART (A TELL TALE HEART). Her mixtape was released back in February. Dawn is currently in Diddy Dirty Money with Diddy and Kalenna Harper, she was also apart of Danity Kane. You can catch Dawn on tour with Diddy and Kalenna Harper as they tour the country on their Coming Home Tour.

What do you think of the song?

Tyga ft. Adele "Reminded"

This is my favorite song off of Tyga's new mixtape Black Thoughts Vol. 2, and now the video is finally here. Tyga is currently on the Coming Home Tour opening up for Diddy Dirty Money.

Throwback Thursday: Jon B- "They Don't Know"

This weeks Throwback Thursday is kind of near and dear to my heart. This weeks song comes from singer Jon B, it's his song "They Don't Know". This song was off of his sophomore album Cool Relax, this song and album was the biggest of Jon B's career. The album was released in 1997 and this single was the biggest single of the year. When thinking about this weeks Throwback Thursday I had so many songs to choose from, but this song just literally popped in my head an hour ago and I knew that it was no second guessing that this was the song. This song is really important to me because this song was my moms favorite song. With her not being here, it just makes this song all the more special for me. If my favorite song "When Your Mad" by Ne-Yo doesn't become my wedding song, then this song will most certainly become my wedding song.

Guess Who's Hot?

I don't know how many of you guys watch 106 & Park on BET, but I do. I've been watching 106 since I was in 1st grade, I actually do my homework to that show. Over the years many people that I know stop watching the show, but I cannot stop watching. Even if it's an episode where nothing is going on I still watch. When I'm not home I always question what happened on that episode of 106. However the whole reason of this post is to talk about one of the co hosts, Terrence J. I just really wanna say that Terrence is very hot. Although he's sort of skinny I still think he's hot. I mean I have the biggest crush on Tyga♥ who is even more skinny. So him being skinny doesn't bother me. Terrence also consists of some of the characteristics that I like in a guy. He has a great sense of humor, there is not one episode he doesn't have the audience laughing. He's light skin and he dresses very well, whether it's formal or casual. I also like that he think's about his future, okay he hosts 106 & Park. He obviously knows that job doesn't last forever, so he has began his acting career and he has his own sneaker line with Coogi. There is one thing however, Terrence may look good on television and in pictures. The things is he looks even better in person. When I go to 106 & Park in person I just find myself just looking at him and not paying attention to the show.

Okay I think I'm doing too much typing now, I just wanted to mention how hot Terrence J is. I am however still striving for my dreams, I can still imagine the day I go on 106 & Park as a successful artist debuting my first music video. Hopefully it's not too far behind.

Jessie J

It's about that time again for another new artist post, this will be the first new artist post since It's Whatever has been back. This artist is a little more known compared to other artist that have been apart of the new artist posts in the past.

Jessie J is one of the hottest new artist, she is an English singer/songwriter. She has written for artist such as Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus. The biggest song she has written is "Party in the U.S.A" for Miley Cyrus. She is signed to Island Records. Jessie J has gained success both here in the U.S and the UK with her hits "Price Tag", and "Do It Like A Dude". Both songs have fallen behind in the number two spot right behind Adele's "Someone Like You" and Bruno Mars "Grenade". Her debut album Who You Are was released on February 25, 2011, it was actually pushed up because it was highly demanded. Her original release date was set for March 28th. Her debut album is currently number two in the UK and number eleven here in the U.S.. I believe people should listen to her song "Price Tag", and realize what Jessie J is really trying to say. The world has become so materialistic, that everyone's main priority is money. Seems like people can no longer just be happy and live life. Like Jessie J I hope to one day make music to share with the world to make people happy, make them dance and make them realize the important things within life. I mean after all isn't the main goal within life is to be happy?

YG ft. Tyga & Nipsey Hussle

I know I shouldn't like this song because it's degrading to women, and I am a female myself. However I know I'm not a bitch, a hoe or a trick, therefore I believe I can enjoy every bit of this song. Also I get to look at Tyga♥ and YG, who is kind of cute. For those who may not know who YG is, he is an up and coming rapper, you can check him out in this years XXL's freshman class issue along with others such as Diggy Simmons and Lil Twist.

Throwback Thursday: 3LW- "No More"

The next song on this Throwback Thursday edition is "No More" by 3LW, which also means 3 Little Women. 3LW was everyone's favorite group back in the day, well when I say back in the day I mean back in first and second grade. The group members were Naturi Naughton, Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams. Naturi Naughton was replaced by Jessica Benson in 2002, the group officially ended in 2007. Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams went on to join the disney group The Cheetah Girls. Now Naturi Naughton is currently acting, she has been in movies such as Notorious and Lottery Ticket. Adrienne Bailon is also currently acting, and I'm not quite sure what  Kiely Williams is up to, but I'm sure everyone will be seeing her on red carpets soon.

Current Popular Songs

Is there a song you never really pay that much attention to, but you always find yourself always singing it? Thats when you realize thats how popular the song really is. Well I've come across two current songs that I always find myself singing, but never really payed that much attention to when they first came out.

The first song comes from new group Mindless Behavior, for some reason I always refer to them as those "bad ass lil boys". Thats only because I think all little kids are bad, and plus their really bad (in a good way) at what they do. Their debut song "My Girl" was already a complete success, but the remix is way way better than the original. The remix features Ciara, Tyga♥ and Lil Twist. The beat is switched up a little from the original and the features just added their magic to bring together a really great track. Not to mention I think Ciara sounds really good as she adlibs on the chorus.

The next song comes from the legendary Mary J. Blige, her song "Someone to Love Me/ Naked" featuring Diddy & Lil Wayne is really hot. I don't know what it is about this song, but the more I heard it the more I liked it. From what I've been hearing Mary is gonna go back to the 90's for her next project. We all know how she was in the 90's, so what ever she has in store is going to be really great. I'm actually excited because Mary's work from the 90's is what makes her a legend to my generation.

NEW MUSIC: Beyonce/ Britany Spears

The first song comes from Beyonce, her song is entitled "Girls (Who Run The World)". It is off of her highly anticipated fourth studio album. Nobody knows the name of the album because Beyonce's camp has been doing a very excellent job at keeping everything private. However within the past week or so pictures from the video shoot has been leaked over the internet. Yesterday the song was finally leaked to the internet. Beyonce is starting off fresh with this new album. She recently described her new music as a new genre of music, as she has mixed various genres of music together. Not only that, but she has also recently parted ways with her dad Matthew Knowles as her manager. It's rumored she will be managed by her husbands label Roc Nation. Everyone is extremely excited for what Beyonce has to bring, especially because she is one that can never fail.

Pictures from the video shoot:

The next song comes from Britany Spears, her song is entitled "(Drop Dead) Beautiful off of her seventh studio album Femme Fatale. The song features Sabi from the Californa group the Bangz. This is a really cool song. I decided to post this song because it features Sabi. I am really proud of her because she has been going through a lot ever since her group member Ella Ann was shot in the neck twice back in September of 2009. I'm sure that the group is still together, but they haven't put any new music out yet. I'm hoping that Ella Ann is almost fully recovered because I am really anxious to hear new music from the Bangz. They need to redeem their spot on their way to the top because the group is really talented. Britany Spears will be going on tour this summer, with opening acts such as Nicki Minaj.

NEW VIDEO: Keyshia Cole- "Take Me Away"

Today Keyshia Cole's video for her single "Take Me Away" off of her Calling All Hearts album was released. This song was apart of my Feel Good Music segment back in February. The picture above is actually a picture of Keyshia Cole on the set of the video, she twitpic'ed it and said "Had fun. The first time I smiled the entire video.. LOL…. felt GOOD.” Proving that this song is truly feel good music.

Throwback Thursday: Ashanti- "Happy"

The first song of the first Throwback Thursday segment here on It's Whatever comes from Ashanti. This weeks song is "Happy" off of her debut album Foolish, which was released back in 2002, almost ten years ago. As far as I know Ashanti is not currently signed to a label. However, she has provided us with great songs such as this for the past nine years.

Mashonda

I love that every single day people learn something new. This morning I learned that Swizz Beatz now current ex wife Mashonda is a singer. I thought now she wants to be a singer, but for some reason she has always been familiar looking to me. Even when her and Swizz Beatz were still married, but I could never put my finger on it. When I heard her remake of "Juicy Fruit" orginally done by Mtume the first thing that popped up in my head was RESEARCH. In 1999 when Mashonda was 18 years old she had a signed publishing deal with Warner Chapel Music and she wrote for a rapper under Full Surface Records. In 2000 she signed a deal with Columbia Records where she was featured on Eve's "Love Is Blind", Jay-Z's "Girls Best Friend", Mya's "Best of Me", and Cassidy's "Get No Better". By 2002 she was signed to J Records where she began working on her debut album January Joy, it was released in Japan in November 2005. It was supposed to be released the following month internationally, but because she had little radio play the album was shelved. In 2007 she began working on her sophomore album, but once again she had little radio play and her album was to be pushed back. However she left J Records in 2007 and she took her second album with her, soon releasing it as a mixtape. In this past year she has launched her own website MashondaLoyal.com where two songs were released. She just recently released the remake of "Juicy Fruit". This is rumored to be the first single off of her second attempt at her second sophomore album, and I really hope it goes through this time because she can really sing. After she was pubically cheated on and had to watch her husband start a new family right in front of her face basically I can sense that she is looking for a new fresh start as she embraces what life has brought her. To this day I still cannot have that much respect for Alicia Keys for the things she has done within her personal life. Whether she realizes it or not but she really was the cause of destruction to Mashonda's family. Even when Mashonda knew she still tried to fight and save her family but it didn't work. The point is Swizz Beatz is really a good producer, but as far as a husband he isn't so great. However I will be looking out for more new music from Mashonda.

Travis Porter

One of the biggest up and coming groups of today is Travis Porter from Atlanta, Georgia. The group consists of  Lakeem “Ali” Mattox, Donquez “Quez” Woods, Harold "Strap" Duncan. According to my reserach they literally just added a fourth member to the group three days ago, April 1, 2011 to be exact. I'm not sure if thats true and I really won't believe it until I see four members instead of three. However the "new members" name is Tronte "Tron" Robinson. Ali and Quez are actually stepbrothers and the two of them met Stap when they were in junior high school. They formed their group in 2006 and have been going strong ever since. They are recently signed with Jive Records and have been creating a name for themselves in the mainstream. Their biggest hits thus far is "Make it Rain" and "Bring it Back". When people hear the name Travis Porter people automatically think one person. During an interview one morning on 105.1's Breakfast Club, the group was asked how did they come up with the name Travis Porter. The group simply responded they came up with a name that sounded like a rich person, and here they are today Travis Porter. Last week the group went on 106 & Park to drop their new video "College Girl". We'll all being seeing and hearing lots from Travis Porter.

Lincoln Center Experience

This week has been a very long and exhausting week, however it has to be one of the most memorable weeks. On Monday March 28th my choir had the opportunity to sing at Lincoln Center here in New York City. Not only that, but we were also conducted by Dr. Rene Clausen. In the choral world he is really famous, most famous for his song "Set Me as a Seal". It don't think there is enough words to explain this experience. But I can say that when I stepped on that stage to perform I felt really comfortable, despite the fact that I couldn't feel my foot because my heels were hurting my feet. Thats another story though. Last weekend we had rehersals at the Hilton Hotel, and that Monday was the concert. My choir had the chance to sing Mark Wilberg's Requiem, along with four different other choirs from different parts of the country. It was a really really great experience and I hope to do something like that again in the near future, after all singing is what I ♥ to do.
