Top 10 Songs of 2010

The songs mentioned on this list were released between January 2010 to September 2010. Popular songs released October 2010 to December 2010 do not qualify because they were released towards the end of the year.
#1. Deuces- Chris Brown ft. Tyga & Kevin McCall
Deuces is the first and only single released off of Chris Brown and Tyga's mixtape Fan of a Fan. I must say that has to be the best mixtapes of this year. The song was such a success that it has been nominated for a grammy. Showing that an artist does not need the support of their record label to make moves within their career. It's all about their creative direction, and what message their trying to potray. 2010 in general was a big year for Chris Brown alone. After his whole situation in 2009, he lost a lot of support from people. Making Chris Brown realize who were his real fans and friends. After gaining the support of the public again he is ready to release a new album in 2011 called F.A.M.E (Forgiving All My Enemies). 2010 was also a good year for Tyga as well, with this mixtape and his solo mixtape Well Done people were able to hear him more lyrically. Most of all this single introduced the world to singer/songwriter Kevin McCall, he has done a lot of behind the scenes work. So I'm excited to see what great music he will release in 2011.

#2. Teach Me How To Dougie -Cali Swag District
One of the newcomers of this year is Cali Swag District and I must say they picked a perfect song as their first single. Their song is about a dance called the Dougie that is famous on the West Coast, so when it was released here in the East it was a big deal. Everyone, and when I say everyone either learned or tried their best to learn how to dougie. If I had to crown someone who is outside the group with the best dougie, it would have to be Chris Brown. Therefore giving Cali Swag District the best dance song of 2010.

This is a Chris Brown interview from August 2010 on 106 & Park...he begins to dougie around the 2:55 mark

#3 Hello Good Morning- Diddy Dirty Money ft. T.I & Rick Ross
Diddy also known as P.Diddy, Puff Daddy and a few other names has been promoting his new group Dirty Money for the last two years and 2010 was most definetly their year. Their debut album Last Train to Paris was released earlier this month on December 13th. "Hello Good Morning" was the third single released from this album. The song became so popular that the remix to the song gained even more buzz. The remix features Nicki Minaj.

#4. Find Your Love -Drake

Last year Drake created such a buzz that everyone was looking his way in 2010. When he entered the rap game everyone was looking to see what he had to offer just for the simple fact that he was known as the character Jimmy on the teen drama Degrassi. He made it clear that he had left that behind him and he had a lot to offer the music industry. His debut album Thank Me Later was released on June 15th and "Find Your Love" was released on May 5th. This song became such a big hit that it was a big deal when the music video finally came out. Many viewers wondered why Drake would follow after a female who only led him to trouble. None the less this single had to be within the top 5 songs of 2010.

#5. Nothin On You -B.o.B ft. Bruno Mars

B.o.B and Bruno Mars both deserve the title of best new artist of 2010, the kind of music these two brought to the industry this year makes me think that the music industry can still be saved. "Nothin on You" was the first single off of B.o.B's debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray released on April 27th. This song became so popular that both B.o.B and Bruno Mars gained so much attention and so much hype before both of their albums dropped. The following single off of B.o.B's debut album was "Airplanes" featuring Haley Williams of Paramore. Bruno Mars went to go on and release his two singles "Just the Way You Are" and "Grenade", which are on his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans released on October 4th. This song will be marked as an all time favorite of 2010.

#6. Rude Boy -Rihanna
From Rihanna's most talked about album Rated R released in 2009, "Rude Boy" was the single that caught everyone's eyes and ears. Going back to her carribean roots Rihanna showed that she still hadn't changed and she could still make a song that all different types of people could enjoy. This single was officially released to the public on February 9th. Rihanna released her 5th album Loud on November 16th , which features the popular song "Only Girl In The World" and "Whats My Name".

#7. Bottoms Up -Trey Songz ft. Nicki Minaj

The first single from Trey Songz highly anticipated fourth studio album Passion Pain & Pleasure (September 14, 2010)  was released in June 2010. With the success of his thrid album Ready people couldn't wait to hear what else Trey Songz had in store. He delivered as he got one of the biggest feature artist of  the year Nicki Minaj to join him on the track. This song actually was the cause of famous sayings amongst the public. In the beginning of the song he says "It's Mr.Steal Ya Girl" which became really popular, and Nicki Minaj's verse was just popular in general.

#8. California Gurls -Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg

Katy Perry kicked off the summer the right way by releasing "California Gurls" ft. Snoop Dogg. This single is off of her third studio album Teenage Dream, which was released on August 24th. Her single "California Gurls" was released on May 11th, she had everyone who lived in California happy that were from California or had people false claiming that they were from California. This year was actually a big year for Katy Perry, she released her third studio album and she also married UK comedian Russell Brand. Following this song Katy Perry released her singles "Teenage Dream" and "Firework".

#9. Your Love -Nicki Minaj

"Your Love" by Nicki Minaj was such a big single for the Young Money rapper because this was her first solo single, which was released on June 1st. It was apart of her debut album Pink Friday released on November 22nd, which was the 2nd rap album released the week it came out. Nicki Minaj gained her success as being the featured artist on other people's songs. So when she finally released a song that was going to be on her album many people were happy because it gave them a preview as what to expect on her album.

#10. Love The Way You Lie -Eminem ft. Rihanna

Eminem has to be one of the artist on this list with the best year ever due to his 10 grammy nominations. "Love The Way You Lie" from his seventh studio album Recovery was release on August 17th the album was released on June 21st. Eminem was also named the number one rapper on BET's Top Ten Rappers of the Past 10 Years. This is Eminem's second album released after his musical break due to his battle with drug addiction and the death of his close friend Proof. The song and video both send a good message about domestic violence within a relationship.

NEW MUSIC: Speechless

As the holidays are passing by and a new year is approching in a few days new music is being released. Alicia Keys has a new song called "Speechless" ft. Eve, the song is part of Swizz Beats Monster Mondays. Alicia Keys tweeted from her twitter :"Speechless is a little freestyle treat 4 the holidays. It's not a new album, not a single its something special 4 U!" Hopefully her and Eve collaborate on more songs that would actually make one of their albums, because I'm sure everyone remembers their song "Gangsta Lovin" from 2002. I'll admit I wasn't so happy about Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats marriage earlier this year, due to the fact that they hooked up the wrong way. But I guess good music is an advantage of their marriage. It seems like this song is about her and Swizz Beats new baby boy Egyt.
Like This Song?

We Miss Danity Kane

This post is needed because I know I am not the only person who misses Danity being around. When they were broken up it was just sad. I'm not gonna say I was crying or anything, but it was pretty shocking to me and I was upset. Many people may ask why did you react so hard to their breakup? Especially because groups are known for breaking up. I think just the simple fact that their fans literally watch their entire journey to being the group that we all loved break up was hard. I used to watch them on Making the Band 3 and have hopes of being famous one day. Not to mention I loved their music. Their first album Danity Kane was released on August 22, 2006. My favorite song on that album besides it's lead single "Bad Girl" was "Ride for You". The group became even better when they released their sophomore album Welcome to the Dollhouse on March 18, 2008. My two all time favorites from that album is "Ecstasy" ft. Rick Ross and "Sucka for Love". I really wished this group would had survived, but I guess everything in music industry doesn't go as planned. I wish I could tell you where each member is at today but I can't. All I can tell you is that Dawn Richards is in Diddy's new group Diddy-Dirty Money, and they released their debut album last week on December 13th.

Kourtney Heart♥

Kourtney Heart is an up and coming artist from New Orleans, Louisana signed to Jive Records. I was first introduced to Kourtney Heart when I was doing my research on Magnolia Shorty. Magnolia Shorty was a bounce music artist from New Orelans who was murdered earlier this month. She is one of the two bounce music artist I did posts on within the last two months, both who lost their lives to the violence that is sweeping New Orleans. Kourtney Heart found international success with her single "My Boy" ft. Magnolia Shorty. When I first heard the song I'll admit I didn't pay it any mind. Only because at the time my only task was to find out all that I can about Magnolia Shorty and try to put together the best post that I can. After I conquered that task I went back to the song and listened to it again. It was only a short amount of time until I found myself singing the song. Thats when I knew I had a new task. I had to research Kourtney Heart and learn all that I can about her. From what I learned she is living the dream I only imagined I could achieve. That only means that I have to be more focused and work even more harder than I already am(reason why I'm ending my blog). She is your normal 17 year old in her senior year of high school. She has been in love with music from a young age thanks to her dad. She began doing local talent shows. She soon moved to singing the "National Anthem" at the New Orleans Hornets basketball games. As she continued to work hard she began getting even more recgonition. She soon started opening for artist such as Kelly Price and Trey Songz. After watching several of her youtube videos I was able to see that she has traveled a very long road and deserves every amount of success that is coming to her and more. On September 14, 2010 Kourtney Heart released her first album Eye Dee Kay. The Album consists of songs such as "My Boy" and "Spell It Out", which I recommend that people listen to because they are great songs. Shortly after the release of her album she was officially signed to Jive Records. The thing about Kourtney Heart is that at a young age she is filled with so much ambition and she is so focused. Both which led to her getting her record deal and the amount of fans that she has. Her being only one year older than me and being able to achieve the dream that we both obtain only motivates me to keep trying in hopes that one day I will be able to make it. Not only make it, but also be appreciated by many and be able to speak to them through music. I believe the best kind of artist is an artist who can speak to people through their work. Not only music but also through art, dance and even acting. Kourtney Heart is dope and I support her.

NEW MUSIC: Body/ Beautiful Mistake

Teairra Mari came on to the music scene in 2004 with her debut album Roc-A-Fella Presents: Teairra Mari, her leading single was "Make A Girl Feel Good", which made it to number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her second single was "No Daddy". In 2006 she parted ways with Roc-A-Fella and soon signed with Warner Bros. Her song "Body" is off of her her mixtape Point of No Return, hosted by DJ Drama. This song has been out for a little while, but I wasn't introduced to the song until I was watching the reality show Basketball Wives on VH1. It's not as good as her song "Sponser", but the song has potential and I like it.

This song here I absolutely love, and according to the comments I've read from fans, so does everyone else. "Beautiful Mistake" is off of Keri Hilson's new album (IN STORES NOW) No Boys Allowed. There is not much to really say except that when Keri Hilson said she made songs for almost every situation, she wasn't lying. I can guarantee that if you listen to this song you can find some type of situation within your life that this song relates to.

Angela & Vanessa Simmons

The infamous Simmons sisters Angela and Vanessa, have to be one of the best role models for young girls in today's society. While the daughters of veterans in the entertainment business are achieveing their "goals" by becoming porn stars *cough: Montanna Fishburne* these two young women developed a multi million dollar business. As well as achieved their own person goals. Angela and Vanessa are the two oldest children of hip hop veteran Rev Run. They were introduced to the world nationally on the their family's reality televison show on MTV Run's House. On the show viewers literally seen these two grow into the women that they are today. Everyone seen Angela graduate high school, get her own magazine with Word Up Magazine and go to college. Viewers seen Vanessa achieve her goals both as a model and actress, which she still does to this day. In 2006 Angela and Vanessa decided to start their own sneaker line which became known as Pastry, which is under their uncle Russell Simmon's company Run Athletics. Over the years their business has grown to just more than sneakers. It now includes things such as clothing and dolls. Of course like everything else the beginning of Pastry was caught on camera and put on Run's House. From Run's House the two got their own spin off show Daddy's Girls. This show showed Angela and Vanessa on their own in Calfornia. Now on a different coast from their family they were able to prove how responsible they had become and they were able to run their business and make it a national brand. I'm still waiting for a new season of  Daddy's Girls I absoluetly love that show.

Tynisha Keli

Tynisha Keli has to be one of the most talented artist of our generation who is not really in the mainstream. However, she has to be one of the most known artist on this edition of talented artist who don't get enough  recognition. Tynisha Keli was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she than moved to Los Angeles when she began her music career, she now lives in Atlanta. I can't tell you how long I've known about Tynisha Keli, but I know it's before I was in high school so it's been awhile. Like every other person when I first heard of Tynisha Keli I only heard her music, but didn't know what she looked like. So when I seen her for the first time I was surprised that a white girl was able to sing with so much soul. It's like Pink and Christina Aguilera, only a few of those exsist. The thing with Tynisha Keli is people have always wondered when she would release her album. I don't think a lot of people know that she released her second album earlier this year. The thing is her album wasn't released here in the United States. Tynisha Keli has reached much success in Japan than here in the United States. So her debut album The Chronicles of TK was released on April 22,2009 in Japan and on iTunes the day before. Without the promo here in the United States many of us were not aware of the release of her album and were always left curious on her career. Her most famous single is "I Wish You Loved Me", which is just really awesome. The remix features Sammie. Tynisha Keli was signed to Warner Bros Records from 2006 up until 2009. She is now working with Eight72 Entertainment. On August 17, 2010 Tynisha Keli released her second album The 5th Element, which was of course released in Japan. It was later released August 25, 2010 in Japan, United States and Europe under Eight72 Entertainment. I just cannot wait for the day when Tynisha Keli is a more frequent artist in this music industry because she really deserves it.

Monica & Shannon Brown ♥

I've been waiting to do this post for the longest and I don't know what made me wait to do this post so late. Better late than never I guess. I have to say one of the best hookups of 2010 would have to be R&B singer Monica and LA Laker Shannon Brown. Back in August I did a post on my love for Monica as an artist. In that post I added the confirmation of both Monica and Shannon Brown being a couple. Monica had broken up with her fiance and father of her children Rocko in 2009. Her and Shannon Brown began dating some time in 2010, I'm assuming some time around the release of her album Still Standing because he was in the video for "Love All Over Me" (picture above) and shortly after it was confirmed that they were a couple. Long story short they were engaged October 2010, it may seem a little quick but their just so cute together. It just makes me hope that in the near future I can still achieve my dreams and fall in love like these two did. It may seem mean but everytime I see Monica and Shannon Brown together I say "Thank God Monica is with Shannon Brown now". Not saying that her ex Rocko is a bad person, but I just think her and Shannon are a better match. However I would like to crown Monica and Shannon Brown as the cutest couple of 2010. =)

ALBUM RELEASE DAY: No Boys Allowed/ Calling All Hearts

Everyone knows that I have been waiting for this day to come. If you didn't know how much of a big fan I am of Keri Hilson, I am here to tell you now that I ♥ ♥ ♥ her. I may seem a little extreme right now, but I'm just happy that Keri Hilson was able to make it to her sophomore album. I will admit I don't have my copy yet, but it was the first thing on my Christmas list. On Christmas day that will be the first thing I look for under my Christmas tree. The songs that I have heard from the album I like so far. I'm anxious to hear what other kinds of songs this album holds. Every song that I know from this album so far has been posted on this blog. Except for a song called "One Night Stand" featuring Chris Brown (which I will post soon). The only song that is not on the album is "Still A Girl". I cannot wait to get my copy, and see the first week numbers for this album.

NO BOYS ALLOWED PROMO PICS:

UPDATE: It's been a week since the album has been released and I decided to go and check all the media sites and see what people have to say NOW that the album is out. Just like I predicted everyone has nothing but good things to say. There are people who are saying the songs on the album relate perfectly to their situation, or they just love the music in general even if it doesn't relate to their situation. It seems that "Beautiful Mistake" is a lot of people's favorite. I will be doing a new music post soon with the song being apart of it.

NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALL A PERFORMER, WHEN SHE GOES ON TOUR I WILL CERTAINLY BE THERE!

Also today in stores is Keyshia Cole's fourth studio album Calling All Hearts. The leading singles off of this album is "I Ain't Through" ft.Nicki Minaj and "Long Way Down". I recommend that people go get this album and support Keyshia Cole, based on the songs I've heard I don't think she has lost her touch and she is back to redeem her spot.
