Keri Hilson: "Breaking Point" VIDEO

Last month I talked about Keri Hilson's first single off of her sophmore album No Boys Allowed. The song has been doing well on the R&B charts, last time I checked it was #10. Keri Hilson is currently out promoting her new song and performing it around the country. Like I knew it would, the song grew on me and I actually love it. Just makes me more excited for her album to be released this fall. Today the video for her first single "Breaking Point" was released.

Keri Hilson: "Still A Girl"

I found this song by Keri Hilson on http://www.concreteloop.com/ about a week or two ago and I instantly fell in love with this song. It took me awhile to get used to Keri Hilson's first released song "Breaking Point" ,which I now love. This song on the other hand I just loved instantly. When I hear this song I get a "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie vibe for some reason. Appearently this song was actually leaked, and it's unknown if it would be on her upcoming album No Boys Allowed. Leaked music is not a good thing, but in some cases I'm happy some songs are leaked because it's usually the good music thats leaked. Like this song for example. What do u guys think about this song?

Star Spangled Banner

Everyone knows the "Star Spangled Banner", which is sung at every sports game and other events that take place. There are two performaces in particular that were just amazing and brings tears to my eyes (literally). The two people who I think did the best job was Beyonce and Jordin Sparks, both at the Super Bowl.

Here is Beyonce at the 2002 Super Bowl, my favorite part was the way she ended.

Here is Jordin Sparks at the 2008 Super Bowl, I think she did GREAT from the begining to end.

Willow Smith: "Whip My Hair"

This is Willow Smith, the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Also the sister of Jaden Smith. This week she released her first single "Whip My Hair". I will be totally honest when I heard she had a song out I thought it wouldn't be all that special. I concluded this because children of celebrity's have tried to persue muscial careers before, but failed. Not all but there is a few who can be named. However I was proven wrong, from the minuate I pressed play I ended up liking the song. Not to mention she is only 9 years old. I wish I was this talented in music when I was 9. The story gets even better, a few days later it was announced that she signed with Jay-Z's label RocNation. Which may be a new label, but already considered to be one of most legit labels around now. First off it's ran by Jay-Z who is one of the few real rappers around. Also because the artist who are already signed to the label are really talented. For example, J Cole. One thing I also like about Willow as an individual is that she is very unique and you see it in her clothing. It isn't particularly my style, but that doesn't matter the point is she is her own person. That is a very important quality to have in the entertainment business.

Ne-Yo "When Your Mad"

Anybody who really knows me, knows that my favorite song of all time is "When Your Mad" by Ne-Yo. I don't care what song comes out and I may listen to frequently, but that song will eventually die down. Not this song though. I LOVE♥ this song so much. The funny thing is I do not have as to one clue on why I love this song so much. This song came out when I was in 6th grade. Meaning it came out in 2006, it's off of Ne-Yo's first album "In My Own Words". I remember I would be late to school all the time because I woud not leave my house until I heard this song or seen the video. This is before ipods were really popular, so I had the radio on and I would flip through every video channel waiting for this to come on. Once it came on I would be on my way to school. The funny thing is my school was directly across the street from my house and I was the only that was always late. I just wouldn't leave until "When Your Mad" came on though.

Here is the video to the best song ever:

106 & Park Experience

Many people say they don't watch the show 106 & Park on BET anymore. I'm one of the few people I know who still actually watch the show. There has been many changes to the show that has occured over the past 10 years they've been on televison. From the actual address of the studio, to the different sets and even three different sets of hosts. Everyone can agree and say that their favorite hosts would have to be the hosts that orignally started with the show AJ and Free. If it wasn't for them the show wouldn't even still exsist today, but I think eventually they would have moved on, on their own even if their contracts weren't up at the time. The current hosts Terrence J and Rocsi seem to have a great chemistry. I also respect the process they went through in order to get their jobs, which was the "BET New Faces" contest. Recently (the first of this month to be exact) I visited 106 & Park for first time with my friends. I've been watching 106 & Park since first grade, which was in 2000-2001 (the show began in 2000). So I've basically have been watching since it's came out, maybe a couple months after but its been years. I usually do my homework to the show. I always wondered what it would be like and how Terrence and Rocsi would act in person. The set is really small in person and so is Terrence and Rocsi, but they look exactly the way they do on televison. Except I think Terrence is even more handsome in person. At first I thought they didn't get along too much because during videos and commercials I didn't see too much interaction. Eventually deeper into the show they seemed like the same Terrence and Rocsi  I know through my television set. So I was glad to see that even on commercial breaks and when the videos were on they interacted with eachother the same. I was also happy to see that Rocsi was actually nice in person. I had heard from a friend she acted totally different, but I'm glad I experienced a different side of her. Going to 106 & Park was actually a wake up call to myself and my friend Shayna. We talked about the time we spent there afterwards and it made it clear to us where we wanna be in the future and how we need to start working at it now. Shayna wants to be either a broadcaster or a host, which I believe she will perfect for. I on the other hand want to persue a music career and being there just made me think about how I can have another first time on 106 & Park as being a new artist. Overall though I enjoyed myself, it was a great experience and can't wait to go again.

Here I'm pictued (middle) with my friend Shayna (left) & Desiree (right)!

"Wake Up Everybody"

I really like this song and think it is really appropiate for the times of today. With all the violence, the poverty, the hatred, etc. going on in todays world it's time for some motivational music. Although this song has been re-done several times I have to commend John Legend, Melaine Fiona, Common and the Roots for bringing this song back. They are the kind of artist that obviously care about the future and is looking for some type of hope for change. In the past years people have not waken up yet, so hopefully they wake up this time around and decide to make a change.

My Top 5 Guys in R&B

In a previous post I mentioned a few things about myself. Amongst those things I mentioned my favorite women in R&B without mentioning the guys. That was totally unfair, so this post is deadicated to my favorite guys in R&B.

NE-YO
First off is Ne-Yo, he is a very very very talented artist and he is very creative. I love his writing ablities as an artist, which can go a very long way. Not only does he write for himself, but he writes for other artist as well. My favorite song he has written for another artist would have to be "Stay or Go" for Monica. His vocals are amazing as well. Ne-Yo is one of those artist who sounds the same way he does on a recording when you listen to him live. My favorite song by Ne-Yo and my favorite song over any other song is "When You Mad". Anyone who knows me knows thats been my favorite song since I was in 6th grade

TREY SONGZ

Next comes Trey Songz, I shouldn't really have to say anything. His name alone should just be enough said, but there are some things that just makes you ♥ Trey Songz. One thing that makes me respect him and admire him is his patience. Trey Songz has been in the industry for awhile now and he is just now reaching his greatest peak. Unlike artist who reach total super stardom over night from one single . It took a few years, but he continued to keep going. He started out with his first album "I Gotta Make It" and is about to reach his fourth album "Passion Pain Pleasure". In between he has mixtape after mixtape, proving he deserves his spot as one of the best in today's industry. With his great vocals and his incredible appearence I can see him go even further.

CHRIS BROWN

Chris Brown, is poppin (really great) first and for most. I have been a fan of his since the first day. I still blast his first album, knowing every word to almost every song on the album. He was a great artist then and is still a great artist today. Despite the issues he faced with Rihanna he is still a relevent artist. Not to mention his dance moves just made him even more noticable. After all of his issues he released his third studio album "Graffiti". It did not do as well as his first and second album, only due to the fact that he was being judged for the things that was taking place in his personal life. Like other artist Chris took to the mixtape seen, reminding his fans and those who left him behind why they fell in love with him to begin with. His latest mixtape with rapper Tyga (♥) "Fan of a Fan" is doing better than anyone has ever expected. The leading single "Deuces" recently just reached #1 in the country. It is obvious he is ready for another studio album, and I wish him nothing but much success.

MAXWELL

Maxwell is an artist before my time, becoming active again during my time made me appreciate and helped me distinguish real music from meaningless music. I remember being younger and seeing Maxwell's videos and listening to his music and I wasn't very fond of him honestly. Then again I was only a little girl and didn't understand what good music was. It wasn't until I went to high school where I began to appreciate music from different times and began to extend my ear to different types of music. So when I listened to those Maxwell songs I didn't like when I was younger my whole response was different. Instead I would say something like "Yessss Maxwell, CLASSIC". When he came back out in 2009 I was actually happy because he is one of those artist that gives you true R&B, he gives you that 90's R&B but makes it appealing to todays audience. With that being said he gets Two Thumbs Up from me! (=

USHER

Usher is one of those artist where you can just keep it short and simple. Like this: Was already a great artist from the time he came out. Started in the industry as a teen, as he blossmed everyone couldn't get enough of him. Had a falling point within his career after marrying the wrong women. Now that their divorced, he has a new album and is better than ever. Usher can be described as a legend. See simple enough ^__^
