Last week was my last concert as a vocal major in high school. When I say that night was one of the best I really meant it. From the fun I had before the concert, to my teachers speech to the seniors because we were his first freshman so we were literally together for four years. To the amount of tears that were shed due to both happiness and sadness. To the amazing performance that was put on that night. Class of 2012 most definitely showed out for all of their last shows. Whether it was the band, orchestra, vocalist, dancers. The last stop is for the art majors last art show. I really can't believe high school will be over within a matter of days. I wish I could just pack everyone up and take them to college with me. With my constant difficulty with singing and my various moments that I have, I hope I can make a transition to college singing and that I really become better, because music is my dream and something that I truly want.

My last Spring Concert, I'm the first person on the stage on the right side
If your a true lover of music then like me this past Sunday you were glued to the television watching the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, which took place in Las Vegas. This years award show was the main attraction because many people were looking forward to the Whitney Houston tribute featuring her daughter Bobbi Kristina. However before I touch on that tribute, I want to share some of my favorite looks from the red carpet.
The first look comes from Monica, I love this white dress on her and I love the hair. However, my favorite part of her entire outfit is her SHOES! I constantly walk around in high heels for practice, this will be me one day.
The next best outfit goes to Brandy, what I like most about this outfit is her shoes, hair and makeup. Most of all this look shows that she can be versatile and still look sexy. I can't wait until she starts working on promo for her new album, more hot outfits to come.
When I first seen Miley Cyrus's outfit the first thing I said was "a jacket and heels, really?". Then I looked at the outfit more and then I realized that she is all grown up and that this is actually a really nice high fashioned look. So this eventually became on of my favorites of the night.
My next favorite look went to Carrie Underwood, this look says Prom 2012 to me and I don't know if it's because my prom is this Friday that's why this was so appealing to me. However her gown was beautiful, her hair and makeup was perfect. She just looks like the perfect peach to me.
Although the red carpet looks were definitely the talk of the night, another topic of discussion was the tribute to Whitney Houston done by John Legend and Jordin Sparks. The most talked about part of the tribute was Jordin Sparks rendition of "I Will Always Love You". There were a few people who thought she sounded pretty bad, but I thought she did a good job. I thought she did a good job for the simple fact that she stuck to her range and delivered the song to the best of her ability. She was never a power house singer, so many people may have looked for her to belt out a Jennifer Hudson which was never going to happen. Therefore a kudos to Jordin Sparks is deserved in my opinion. It was also sweet that Bobbi Kristina was there to accept the Millenium Award on behalf of her mother, the award was created last year with Beyonce being the first recipient.
I've never posted gospel on here before, which probably gives off the impression that I don't like gospel music. However that is not the case at all, in fact gospel is one of my favorite genres to sing in school. I just don't have the voice to sing gospel, my voice is really weak. Back to the purpose of this post, Mary Mary just dropped the video to their single "Go Get It" and I must say that Tina & Erica look like gorgeous gangsta gospel singers in the video in my opinion. I watch their reality show Mary Mary, on WE TV every Thursdays and I have to say it is one of my favorites. I actually choose to watch their show opposed to the Pauly D Project on MTV. I can't identify exactly why I like their show but I just think their lives are totally awesome. The show is filled with family, music, business and God and I find every aspect to be appealing. I really hope they're renewed for a new season. When they finally get back on track and release a new album I will be going to buy it for sure.
This week there has been a lot of announcements within music, from artist signing to new labels to new videos to the line up for annual summer concerts and award shows. However, the best of them all is the new music videos that was released.
The first new music video comes from heart throb Trey Songz, his new music video to his second single "Heart Attack" off of his upcoming studio album Chapter V was exclusively debuted on 106 & Park . There is no official date as to when the album will drop, but it will come out this summer. As far as artist being added to the rosters of summer concerts, Trey Songz was announced as one of the performers for Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert which will take place in New Jersey. The video features Kelly Rowland and I think that both her and Trey Songz actually would make a cute couple, but I know that Trey's Angels would lose it if he actually had a girlfriend. Especially if he had a girlfriend within the industry. Nonetheless I feel like Benny Boom directed an awesome video for this single, and I can't wait for the album to drop.

The next music video comes from a teenage heart throb, Justin Bieber's video to his first single "Boyfriend" off of his sophomore album Believe was released. Everything about this song and video is a total different direction from the Justin everyone was introduced to on MyWorld 2.0. Then again he is 18 years old now and dating a 20 something year old (Selena Gomez). I think I like this song and video because both Justin and I are facing the same issues where we are trying to get people to realize that we're grown up now. Not to mention, my favorite part is the rapping part of the song. If your a dedicated Seventeen Magazine reader like myself, or just love Justin Bieber make sure you pick up the May issue. He is one of the two cover stories, in his article he discusses his new musical direction and his relationship with Selena. As well as exclusive pictures of him on his down time.
This song and video isn't so new, but it's still new because it only came out last month. If you ever read any of my other posts then you may have seen my posts on the group The Bangz, or one of my most recent post of Sabi's music video to "Wild Heart". Sabi is back with her follow up single to her debut album, with "Where They Do That At" which features Wale. The song gives off a pop kinda of sound with a touch of hip hop. The song was produced by Cirkut, and the track kind of gives me the vibe I had first gotten when I seen The Bangz music video to their single "Boys With Tattoos". It's nice to know that although Sabi had no choice, but to continue as a solo artist she is still sticking to her own style. It was her style and energy that made Warner Bros. sign her as a solo artist after everyone learned that Ella Ann wouldn't make a return to music. I think that the simplicity of both the song and video makes it great and a future hit. Once I find out more information on Sabi's debut project I'll be sure to update.
Lately I've been a lazy blogger, and that's mainly because it's senior year & it's about to end so there is a lot going on. However, that's not a good enough reason for the poor work that I've been producing. After realizing my poor work I had to think of new things to talk about for you guys to enjoy, that wasn't too hard to do. The musical world is growing everyday, my musical world is growing everyday. Finding topics made me excited, and one of the first things I would like to discuss is Monica's new album New Life. This is her seventh studio album, and I felt like I personally had to buy it because she is one of the few great R&B artist left within the industry. Earlier last month I talked about the video to her single "It All Belongs To Me" with Brandy. With the success of that song when I brought the album I expected all of the songs to match the instant success of that single, as well as match the success of her previous album Still Standing. I'm not saying this because Monica is one of my favorite singers, but she really delivered. I listened to the entire album from start to finish at least four times the first day I had the album. Many people in this generation probably don't think too much of Monica because her albums consist mostly of ballots. What they must understand is she comes from the 90s era so she sticks with the formula that has made her the wonderful artist that she is today. The formula that has created the reputation that she has had for over fifteen years. Second she sings the hell out of every ballot she has on her albums, good music is good music and that's all to it. My favorite songs off of the album is "Big Mistake", "Without You" and "Amazing". According to Monica's instagram her next single will be "Without You", so request that single at your local radio stations. Also if you haven't already, make sure you go out and buy or download a copy of New Life, I promise you won't be disappointed. The album has features from both Brandy and MMG's own Wale.
