R.I.P Aaliyah

Today marks the 9th year anniversary of Aaliyah's death. On August 25, 2001 she passed away in a airplane crash from the Bahamas after shooting her video for her song "Rock the Boat". I myself was really really sad when she passed away. I still remember what occured that day. I was in the car and I heard nothing but Aaliyah songs on the radio. When I got in the house the news was on and it said she had died in a plane crash. I couldn't believe it because Aaliyah was one of my favorite singers and somebody I always looked up to. So I was sheding tears like a family member had passed away. This is the honest truth. Around that time I was in summer day camp and my teacher at the time put a picture of her on the classroom door and I looked at it and started crying. Aaliyah to me was a wonderful talent person all around. She was a wonderful dancer, singer, and although she never got to the chance to expand her acting career as much she did wonderful in acting as well. Little did I know that Aaliyah would inspire me to want to be an entertainer, first through dance. In elementary school I was apart of a dance group called the "Baby Girl Dancers" formed by my second grade teacher. She formed the dance group off of the classes love for Aaliyah. The first song we danced to was Aaliyah's "Try Again" (I still remember some of the moves...lols). Later on after entering junior high school I became more interested in singing. I educated myself on artist I admired, Aaliyah being one of them. So as I continue and try to make my dreams come true I like to think about the wonderful artist Aaliyah was and only hope that I can achieve half of the great things she has done before leaving this earth. So as the years pass it's important not to embrace the new artist thats on the rise, but remember and pay credit to those who have come before and passed on. I am truly and completely a true 100% Aaliyah fan and really do miss her. So although I selfishly want her here on earth she is off in heaven being the angel that she really is. When I think Aaliyah here's what I think BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED and INSPIRING! May she continue to Rest In Peace ♥

Here is one of my favorite Aaliyah songs "The One I Gave My Heart To":
