90's R&B

A friend and I was having a discussion the other day about the current shape of the music industry. We both are aspiring artist and after watching Olivia basically struggle with her music career on this past season of Love & Hip Hop on VH1 we basically admitted our fear to one another. Our fear that talent alone will not be enough to get you by within this music industry. In the middle of our conversation I began to drift off into a thought of 90's R&B. I'm not saying that today's R&B is horrible because I would be a complete lair, but I do believe that the state of R&B was at it's BEST during the 1990's. I only lived within the last 6 years of the 90's, but I do remember hearing some amazing artist from that era. Wanting to be apart of the music industry I can look back on that era as well as others and get ideas and listen to real real good music and learn. Aaliyah  is one of the main artist who inspired me to actually want to pursue being an entertainer, at first it was through dance at a young age. Then soon branched off into music, and now you have an aspiring singer within me. One thing that I noticed is that there are a lot of artist from the 90's who are actually still very relevant to this day, such as Mary J. Blidge and now even SWV. That only says to me not only should I be looking to make great music, but I need to also look to establish a long lasting career for many years to come. With all the hard times I'm experiencing I feel like I cannot give up on music. I'm just hoping that soon things begin to look up for me because this is all I want for myself within life, and it's something that I think of day and night. I know that sounds kind of corny, but it's something that's the complete truth and something that I really feel. Other than that the moral of the story is 90's music is the best.

Here are some of my favorite music from the 90's:

SWV will be coming out with a new album in April

Message from Tyler Perry

My friend & I just had this wonderful conversation, & she advised that I watch this video message from Tyler Perry because she knows how I am about my dreams & my future. I'm very grateful that she recommended this video because it really does speak directly to me. It just makes me wanna tattoo the word believe on my body.

Common: "Celebrate"

I absolutely love love love this song. From the first time I seen the video on 106 & Park I couldn't stop singing the song, Common is truly one of the few true lyricist that is left within the industry. My favorite part of the song is the bridge towards the end of the song. I don't know the person who sings it, I tried to find out who she is. If you know please let me know, but thumbs up to Common.
P.S. his movie Just Wright with Queen Latifah is one of my favorite movies, that's the movie that made me realize that he is really attractive.

New Video: "Stupid Hoe"- Nicki Minaj

Today Nicki Minaj released the video for her first single "Stupid Hoe" off of her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which was set to be released February 14th (day before my birthday). However, her release date has been pushed back to April 3rd. I'm not saying this song is directly pointed towards Lil Kim, although that's what everyone is saying or at least their hoping that it is. I on the other hand am tired of these two and their fake ass beef. No one will really know Nicki's intentions of this song unless they were in the studio with her when she recorded it, or if she tells them herself. If the song is directed towards Kim I hope she becomes the bigger person and gets her career back on track and ignore the jabs being thrown her way. If anything this song should be directed towards actual stupid hoes, because there are still stupid hoes unfortunately in 2012. The only things I like about this video is the different lip colors and the straight hair wigs that she wears. What I don't like is the high note she tried to hit, I'm one who hates to judge another person's vocals, but for her that last note wasn't working. Either or the "female weezy" (something I wouldn't claim) is still relevant and has a new album coming real soon.

Speaking of Lil Kim, around the holidays she released a promo picture of herself via twitter. She released the photo to give her fans a sneak peek on what to expect from her in the new year. I really hope 2012 is the year she gets back on track and she gets her crown back.

Everyday Struggle

Today I had an audition for NYSSSA (New York State Summer School of the Arts), I really did not want to do the audition because I felt that I wouldn't do good and plus my excitement for this program had died down last year. However I still wanted to do my best for the audition whether or not I was accepted. I'll admit that I believe I sung the song pretty well, however my audition went down hill when the sight singing came into play. I wish I could do that part over. Now that I'm home I've been watching videos of my favorite singers singing live for the past couple of hours. I cried like 5 times already, I've just been wondering when would my dreams come true. Right now I want to do another video on my youtube channel, but my last one was such as disaster I'm stopping myself from doing so. The song I really want to do is "Casualty of Love" by Jessie J, however the vocals aren't everything right now. If I can't live out my dreams than I don't know what I'll do.

Out of all the videos I watched, this video of Beyonce singing "Halo" at a hospital in Singapore was the best. Her vocals are so AMAZING, I hope to achieve half of the greatness that she already has, if not even more.

Jay-Z has a new song entitled "Glory" dedicated to his brand new baby girl Blue Ivy Carter, who was born this past weekend here in New York. The track was produced by Pharrell, and in the track you hear her first cries. This song is just so sweet♥

New Music: "Make Your Move"/ "Faded"

The year has just begun and already there are some great new songs being released. For the new year Teyana Taylor released a new track called "Make Your Move" featuring MMG's Wale. It's been a minute since she has released some music of her own music, her "Marvin's Room" Cover not included. The last track was "Google Me" and around that time I was still in junior high school. However, it's always good to here new music, and good music from talented artist at that. What I like about this track is that it's versatile, it can be a party track, but at the same time a laid back track as well. It gets it's laid back feel from Teyana's vocals, and the song also displays her vocal growth over the years. The track is believed to be on her debut album The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, can't wait.

Tyga and I are no longer together, he found himself a new girlfriend, but when there's good music I can't help but to post. Like Teyana, Tyga also released a new track on new years. His new single "Faded" features his boss Lil Wayne and the track is on his upcoming album Careless World: The Rise of the Last King. After various setbacks his album will finally hit shelves on January 24th, THE END!
