Summertime Music

The summer is not quite over yet, but the end is pretty much near. If there is anything that takes you back to any summer experience it would have to be the music that was out around that time. This summer there were a few songs that were constantly played on my local radio stations that has definitely made this past summer memorable.

Check out some of my favorites below:

Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne & Tyga "Loyal"

This track has been out way before the summer officially began, but it's popularity definitely grew throughout the summer. Chris Brown even performed this track at this years BET Awards, as it was his first comeback performance after being released from jail. The track is expected to appear on his upcoming album X, which has been given a new release date of September 16th.

Artist Spotlight: Brianna Perry

This post is way long overdue, months ago I had the idea of doing a post on Brianna Perry as I thought of new artist to feature for this here blog. Now that her new show Sisterhood of Hip Hop will soon debut on Oxygen, now just seems to be the perfect time then ever.

I first heard of Brianna Perry as few years back on 106 & Park when Terrence and Rocsi were still hosts on the show. The music video for her single "Fly Kicks" was the new joint of the day and it was her rap delivery that attracted me to her artistry. For quite some years now there has been talks of the lack of female presents in rap music. When it came to naming artist and nominating the best female rappers at award shows the only female that seemed to be representing was Nicki Minaj.

However, after seeing Brianna on 106 & Park, I checked out some of her music and even more of her videos on worldstar. The Miami native has been in the music game for quite some time, in fact she first stepped into the recording booth before the age of 10. Being from Miami she has been surrounded by many of the big name artists from the area, such as Trina and Trick Daddy. She even attracted the attention of Missy Elliot and spent some time under her wing as she developed into the artist that she is today.

In the past few years she has released a total of 6 mixtapes with Symphony No. 9: The B Collection being the last mixtape. Now we'll get to see her on our television screens along with four other up and coming female rappers on Oxygen's new show Sisterhood of Hip Hop.

If there is one thing that stands out to me when it comes to Brianna, it is the fact that after all of these years within the music industry she has managed to remain up to par with her education. She recently graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Business. This just goes to show it is possible to balance both education and career and still come out on top with both.

Look Who's Back!!!

I've been gone for a minute, but I'm back with the JUMPOFF!!! Lol, no I'm just kidding, but it definitely has been some time since I've posted on here. Hopefully if you've been missing any of the content that I usually post then I hope you've been checking me out over at Mrs. Grapevine (click here) and keeping up with my latest posts. I haven't made a post on here since December 2013 and right now we are about to enter July 2014 in like a week and a half, so it's definitely been a minute. However, with the time passing by I have been thinking about posts I can contribute to this personal blog of mine that will be different from my posts on Mrs. Grapevine. I have some ideas, since there is a certain audience that I currently cater to, so be on the lookout for some new posts I promise. I just need to find the time, but trust me I promise, and hopefully I have more engaging readers on here this time around.

However, in the meantime, click on the link above and see what I've been up to and check back soon for some new posts on here.

Moving Forward in 2014

I haven't made a post on here in awhile and with a few more days left until the new year, I figured I would come on here and do a quick free-write. As I sit here and listen to Beyonce's new self-titled album I sit and think how much of an inspiration this woman is. By now everyone knows about my strong love for music and my aspirations of becoming a well-known and successful singer/ songwriter. So when it comes to an artist such as Beyonce I cannot help but be inspired with all that she does. I'm determined to work my ass off to one day becoming successful like Mrs. Carter. Last week I went to her Mrs. Carter Show here in Brooklyn and there were parts of the show where I became a little teary eyed because I was just thinking what if one day I get the opportunity to be on the stage in front of thousands of people and I look out into the crowd and see nothing but love from people who love and support my music and singing.

I've been committed to private lessons for the past few years, but now I'm taking them 1000% more serious because this is something that I truly want for myself. With 2014 beginning next week I am only hoping for a more prosperous year and I'm hoping that all the work that I've done thus far and plan to do works out in my favor and grants me many opportunities that will lead to making my dreams coming true.

Here is a school project from this past semester that I created about my love for music:

New Music:"Cali Love"/ "Almost Is Never Enough"

If you guys are familiar with my blog than you guys have seen me mention Sabi a few times over the past few years. Last year she began making a name for herself as a solo artist with her first two singles "Wild Heart" and "Where They Do That At" ft. Wale. This year she is back with her new single "Cali Love" featuring California's very own Tyga. The track was produced by Mark J. Feist, and it will appear of Sabi's new EP Cali Love, which is expected to drop this October.

I know you guys are familiar with Ariana Grande from Nickelodeon's hit show Victorious and Sam & Cat. She is now at a point in her career where she is branching out into her music career, and can I say she is definitely killing it. Her voice is so amazing, it's hard to believe she's been playing a ditsy charter on television for the past few years. Nonetheless, her new single "Almost Is Never Enough" features Nathan Sykes from the UK boy band The Wanted. The two sing a beautiful duet for the soundtrack of the motion picture The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which is in theaters now. I've been listening to this song all week and I can guarantee you guys will do the same as well.
