Reality TV & Music

I don't know if you guys are a huge reality television fans like I am, but when there is a new show that looks interesting than I'm there to watch it. My favorite kind of reality shows relate to music, they give me a chance to learn about new artists or learn more about an artist and it exposes me to new music. Two current reality shows is Love & Hip Hop Atlanta and R&B Divas. Both shows have artist that I've heard of before, but with the cameras there, viewers are given more of an emphasis of who they are and get a first look into the music that they make.

The first artist is K Michelle from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. I first heard of her back in 2010 with her single "I Can't Do This". She is one of the breakout stars on the show as she discuss's her previous relationship with producer Memphitz, she mentions how he abused her and was part of  the reasons she fell off and lost her record deal with Jive Records. She is now on the comeback and I must say she is better than I remembered. Her vocals are really strong, and it's really obvious that the songs she writes comes from real life situations. I will admit I have no interest in her drama, but just her music. This season on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta viewers got to watch her record two new songs which were "Bury My Heart" and "Kiss My Ass". I'm unaware of her current label situation, but on the show you see her going through trials and tribulations with trying to become signed again. I would ex out her drama, and only focus on her music because she is really talented.
"Kiss My Ass"

"Bury My Heart"

The next artist is Keke Wayatt, that is best known for her duets with male R&B singer Avant. Some of the classic songs she is featured on is "Nothing In This World" and "If Only You Knew". She is now on the new TV One show R&B Divas, alongside Faith Evans, Monifah, Syleena Johnson and Nicci Glibert. The season has just began, but from the first two episodes I have learned that she is very protective over her husband, but she can sing her ass off. Recently a new track was released by Avant featuring Keke Wayatt called "You & I"

New Music: "Dance Alone"/ "Wildest Dreams"

Those of you who really know me, knows that I love Keke Palmer and she is now back with a new single. Her new single "Dance Alone" follows her leading track "You Got Me" featuring Kevin McCall. This song is off of her upcoming album, which is currently untitled and has no release date as of yet. The track was produced by Harmony, who produced her previous track. She recently shot the video, where you see her trying to get the guy she finds attractive to dance with her at a party. The video will be released on on August 27th.

BTS Footage:

After releasing the official music video for her leading single "Put It Down" featuring Chris Brown, Brandy is already getting started with her second single off of her upcoming album Two Eleven, which is set to be released on October 16th. I personally feel like this song better suites her, although I kind of liked her first single I feel like it was a little too youthful for her. The video was directed by Hype Williams and it confirmed my original thoughts about the song being youthful for her. However, her second single "Wildest Dreams" seems to be more of the Brandy I've been used to hearing, and I think the song suites her well and I love to hear her rifts in any song that she does. The song was produced by Sean Garret and The Bizness.

New Music: "Enough Said"

I feel like this post is 3 days over due, but if I wasn't getting ready to leave for college than it would have been posted earlier. This week Drake posted a new Aaliyah track that he produced. The song is entitled "Enough Said" and the song also features Drake himself. Drake has sampled Aaliyah on his music in the past, but now he is talking about producing an entire album of her unreleased music. First thing I'm interested in finding out is, how does Drake even have access to her unreleased music? He wasn't even on Degrassi when she was still around, but his statement about producing an entire album caused quite a buzz. Timbaland who was a good friend and producer to Aaliyah told media outlets that Drake shouldn't produce no Aaliyah music unless him and Missy Elliot are involved. Shortly afterwards Drake released "Enough Said". Being one of the biggest Aaliyah fans I was both excited and nervous. I was excited because she's been gone for over 10 years now, so of course I wanted to hear new music from her. Then I was nervous because I wasn't sure if it would live up to the empire Aaliyah has already built. Nonetheless, I LOVE THE SONG. It's a mixture of Aaliyah's classic sound, as well as a little 2012 spin. However, Aaliyah's brother Rashad posted to his Facebook and said that there will be no new Aaliyah album, nor will there being a biopic because he feel's like no one can play his sister. The new Aaliyah track was a nice excitement for the summer so Drake I thank you for that. As the anniversary of her death begins to approach, it's still hard to believe it will be 11 years since she's been gone.

First Real Interview

This past weekend I went out to Miami to visit my cousin before I go off to college next week. Right now my  major is Music Performance, it's no secret I want to be a singer. However, with all of my studying and training over the past couple of years I'm still not good. If you've seen my cover videos on youtube then you know what I'm referring to. That's why I wanted to continue studying music in college, but a degree in music is not going to guarantee me a future within the music industry. So I decided when I return to campus to officially begin my college journey I would rather be a Mass Communications major and minor in Music Performance because I don't want to completely give up on trying to sing. Aside from being a singer I also have the dream of hosting 106 & Park and interviewing some of my favorite stars. I look up to personalities such as LaLa Anthony, Ryan Seacrest, Wendy Williams and a few others. So I'm hoping to achieve both dreams within my life, so to test out my interviewing skills I interviewed my cousin who just happens to be an up and coming fashion blogger out in Miami and here is the finished product.

New Videos: "Enough of No Love"/ 'Pound the Alarm"

Keyshia Cole is back with a new music video to her new single "Enough of No Love" featuring Lil Wayne off of her upcoming album Woman to Woman, which is expected to be released this September. The video was directed by Benny Boom, I think he's done ALL of Keyshia Cole's videos. She debuted the video today on 106 & Park. When talking about her upcoming album she continued to mention working with a lot of song writers and getting back to her roots. She also mentioned that a lot of her fans were not feeling her last album Calling All Hearts. People felt as though she wasn't putting out enough into her music because she was now married with her own family. So she decided to take herself out of the equation and started making music for her fans again. I'll admit after hearing the songs several times, putting it on my iPod and finally watching the music video it does feel like the old Keyshia. Not to mention her reality show Keyshia & Daniel: Family First comes out this October on BET, I'm starting to get really excited for her.

Yesterday Nicki Minaj's video to her next single "Pound the Alarm" off of her second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was released. Her new video was also directed by Benny Boom. This time she went back to her home Trinidad & the entire concept of the video was Carnival in Trinidad. I think this video would have to go within Nicki Minaj's Top 5 best videos. The song just makes you want to dance and just seeing her go back to her roots was a good look. If she performs at this years VMA's it would be cool  for her to recreate the video for her onstage performance.

This old interview of Nicki Minaj popped up on World Star this week & figured I'd share, this is the Nicki I remember when I started high school. She has grown a lot over these past for years.
