Top 5 Moments from the 2011 MTV VMA's

I know I'm a day or two late, but I thought that it would be cool for me to share the top five moments I considered to be the best from this years VMA's. I think there are some people who may agree with me when I say that the VMA's haven't been too exciting these past few years. However after what went down Sunday at the Nokia Theatre, MTV is making it's way back to the good days when the VMA's were exciting.

#1
The first best moment from the night was Beyonce announcing her pregnancy. Before the show even began it was all about her. No matter who was on the stage everyone wanted to see her and her baby bump. Many people had waited several years for her to get pregnant. After false rumors in the past many people just never put too much hope into it. However when she arrived on the carpet everyone's jaws dropped and  they were just so happy for her. Even Jay-Z's facial expression after her performance was priceless. Not too mention she had on these really high heels and was moving like she wasn't four months pregnant. I also think she did a great job at keeping her pregnancy a secret because she just did 4 shows in New York where she wore these small fitted dresses and no one suspected anything. So those celebrities who want to keep their pregnancy a secret from the public needs to take lessons from Beyonce.

#2
The next best moment goes to Chris Brown. Although he was lip syncing he still had such an amazing performance. He was flying and doing all kinds of flips in the air. With all that he did it was understandable why he didn't sing live. Still it had to be considered one of his best performances of his career.

#3
Adele performed for the first time at the VMA's, those words alone are enough said.

#4
Lady Gaga makes the list because ever since she hit the scene everyone always became curious as tho what she would wear. This first thing that would be said when the camera would come on is "I wonder what Lady Gaga is gonna wear". This year she was opening up the show so people became more curious. However this year she did the opposite of what everyone expected. Instead of doing something thirty blocks from the box she decided to go simple and dress as the guy from her "You & I" music video. Not to mention she stayed that way for the entire night. So even going simple and Gaga still turns heads. Plus her acting skills are worth two thumbs up.

#5
The last moment goes to Jessie J. She has officially gone down in my book as a real performer. Despite having a broken leg she still did not let the chance of performing at the VMA's go to waste. She still glammed up and sung the entire show. Many people didn't even know who she was, but after she displayed wonderful vocals the entire night. I'm sure the question, who is Jessie J? Will never come up again.

New Music: "Try"- Frank Ocean

I literally heard this song ten minutes ago and had to post because I like it just that much. A new track from Def Jam singer/songwriter Frank Ocean has been released on the internet and it's not confirmed on whether or not this track will appear on his debut album Nostalgia Lite. There is no official release date for the album as of yet, but I can say that it is highly anticipated after all the great music he has been writing for other artist such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Bridget Kelly. I know I'm looking forward to more new music from Mr.Ocean, and I hope you are too.

R.I.P Aaliyah. . .10 Years Later

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Aaliyah's death, and as a super fan it still hurts. Ten years ago today I remember coming back from an amusement park and hearing nothing but her music on the radio. Then I go inside to see that she had died in a plane crash. I instantly begin to bust into tears as if I had lost a family member. Growing up I loved to watch Aaliyah sing and dance at award shows and on music videos. So when   you realize someone like that is gone forever and is no longer coming back you can't do nothing but cry. I've mentioned before that Aaliyah is the one who inspired me to want to be a singer. She first inspired through dance, and that's when my second grade teacher began a dance group called the Baby Girl Dancers with a few of my friends and I. As I got older I became more interested in singing, and I realized that I wanted to grow up and be an amazing entertainer just like Aaliyah. Although I've experienced hard times lately, I'm still motivated to become a entertainer just as good as Aaliyah. Although today is the day we look back on her tragic death, today is also the day to celebrate her and what she has brought to us as an entertainer. She most definitely was one of a kind and ahead of her time. No artist has been able to achieve her level of greatness and never will.

Since today is Thursday it's only right that today's throwback song comes from Aaliyah:

This is the first song the Baby Girl Dancers danced to

New Videos: "Workout"/ Thinking About Forever"/ "Skyscraper"

This video is exactly how I imagined my entire summer, but it never happened.

I was so excited when this video came out because I wanted to here her sing it live & I must say her vocals are just wonderful. I really want to do a cover to this song, I've been practicing so hopefully I go through with it. I'll keep you guys posted (=

I'm so glad to see Demi Lovato again, and most of all I'm glad to see her doing music. Although I miss her show Sonny With a Chance on Disney Channel I know she needs to do whats right for her. The strength within this song comes straight through and inspires anyone to keep going despite other peoples wants. I also love that Demi is now one of the editors of Seventeen Magazine. So far I learned from her that "Love is Louder than the Pressure to be Perfect".

Throwback Thursday: Goapele- "Closer"

For this weeks throwback song I decided to go with a more calming neo-soul feel. This weeks song is "Closer" by Goapele off of her album Even Closer, released back in 2002. I first heard this song in the movie Honey with Jessica Alba, Joy Bryanat, Romeo and more. I personally found the song to give a nice vibe to the scene in which it was featured. However I never really paid it no mind because in my mind I only viewed it as a song in a movie. Back then had I been more passionate about music like I am now I would of did some research and found out all that I needed to know. Better late then never I guess. Last night Goapele's performance of "Closer" aired on BET on the Mo'Nique Show. Thats when it took me back to when the movie was first released and all I could think was "AHHH, those were the good days". Goapele along with her family began their own label called Skyblaze Recordings to oversee her music career. In 2004 their label was picked up by Columbia Records for world distribution of her music. Artist like Goapele and Ledisi are inspirational because they don't wait to get signed to labels. They begin their own labels, sign themselves and make their careers happen on their own. Look at them now, that just makes me wanna begin my own label and I'm only seventeen. I think I'll call it PRINCESS DIARIES RECORDS ^_^

New Music: "Strip"/ "Headlines"/ "Thinking About Forever"

Back for another new music post, and once again Chris Brown gives the world more great music. Today his new single "Strip" featuring Kevin McCall hit the internet. The song is off of Chris Brown's new mixtape Boy In Detention. The mixtape will be released on Friday (Aug. 5th), so make sure yoy guys support Chris Brown and download the new mixtape.

The next new song comes from YMCMB's own Drake. The first single off of his sophomore studio album Take Care, is "Headlines". The album is expected to be released on October 24th. After making a big impact with his singles "Marvin's Room" and "Trust Issues", I'm sure that this album is going to be great like his debut album.

Last new song is entitled "Thinking About Forever" by Bridget Kelly of Roc Nation. Many people know her for singing with Jay-Z in a few live performances of "Empire State of Mind". The song was written by popular song writer and Def Jam recording artist Frank Ocean. The song was orignally entitled "Thinking About You". The demo of the song is also avaliable, it allows people to hear the difference, but yet the greatness that each artist brings to the track.
